Dole du Valais AOC Cave Provins, Sion 750 ml

Type of grape: GAMAY.
Dole is always pure Pinot Noir or a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay. The variety that produces all the Beaujolais wines. Later-ripening than Pinot Noir, Gamay is very widespread in the Western, French-speaking part of Switzerland.
PINOT NOIR: Originally from Burgundy, Pinot Noir, and its associated clones, is found all over Switzerland. Only in the Eastern region, however, does it dominate production. Synonym: Blauburgunder.

The vineyards of Valais, produce a third of Swiss wines, and extend west to east for over a hundred kilometres along both banks of the Rhone River. The vineyards of Haut - Valais penetrate deep into lateral mountain valleys. Those of Visperterminen, are among the highest in Europe. The soil is clayey and calcareous. The viticultural area is very dry and hot, influenced by a very narrow valley, with not a lot of rain.
Characteristics;
Ruby red colour, fruity, solid, complex bouquet, very long finish.
Serve with: All meat dishes,(especially grills), cheese.
Cellaring: Enjoy now but will keep at least 3 years.
